Are you a “bride to be” that is debating hiring a makeup artist for your barely there natural makeup look? Are you on the fence if the makeup artist expense is really worth it? Let me explain to you why it IS important even for the most natural look you are interested in.
One of the main reasons to hire a makeup artist even if you want a natural look is for your pictures. A makeup artist uses products that photograph correctly.
Cosmetics such as foundations with SPF will reflect in the camera and turn you bright white – NOT WHAT YOU WANT. Also, certain powders will reflect light as well. If you accidentally are using these products your photographer will have a harder time making sure you look perfect in every picture.
Correct placement of cosmetics is also very important for photography. Often times your everyday makeup will not give you dimensions in your face in photos. It tends to “flatten” you out. A makeup artist will contour and highlight your face to ensure every angle looks flawless and you shine in your pictures. Contour and highlight does not have to be the Kim K extreme that you often think of when you think “contour and highlight” it can simply be amplifying your best features of your face.
Lastly with pictures- EYELASHES! When I first began in the makeup artist industry I did not stress the importance of false eyelashes but as the months and years progressed I simply can not stress how important it is for every bride to wear some falsies. False eyelashes open and brighten your eyes. Lashes do not even need to be extreme, there are many different styles to fit every bride’s wishes.
Have you ever noticed that at the end of the day your makeup just does not look the same? Well, you are not the only one! One of the most important jobs as a makeup artist is ensuring that the bride looks amazing from the time they leave your chair all the way to the final reception departure. A good makeup artist has been trained and tested out products that are long lasting. I know on my wedding day I did not want to worry about what I would going to look like as I made my final goodbyes. Your wedding day makeup should last through sweat and tears! I know mine did and I did a lot of both!
It is your wedding day! Why not go all out making sure you look fabulous and feel like a queen on your big day. It is not often that you get to be in a beautiful white dress, be in front of all your friends and family, and lastly and most important marry the love of your life. Your wedding day is a day you will always remember the day being filled with joy and feeling your best.
The lovely lady Catherine in the wedding portraits requested natural barely there look. I made sure to keep her as natural as possible but ensuring the makeup was long lasting, amplify her beauty, and photograph perfectly.
If you are debating on hiring a makeup artist for your wedding please remember the above reasons why. On your wedding day it is important to look and feel your best without having to worry about a thing.
